This work treats about the study of the Cistercian order in Switzerland, following this outline: a. a synthesis of the history of Switzerland. b. the geographic surroundings. e the implantation of abbeys with nuns and monks. d. the evolution of the Order between 1131 and 1966. e. the Trappists. The study ends with a detailed geographical and chronological catalogue of the cistercian abbeys in Switzerland.
