The author goes through the problems that the Latin writing history of the late Middle Ages arouses. She centres her attention on the problems of the Carolingian writing, by contrasting some points of view of distinguished palaeographers such as Bischoff, Cencetti, Petrucci and other authors. Looking backwards in time, she mentions the uncial and semi-uncial writing. At the same time, the author pays attention to the epigraphic writing and to the book history, underlining how much this discipline owes to the Belgian school. She also analyses some original bibliographical contributions related to the book history.
