The aim of this essay, «Current state of Palaeography in Spain», is to divulge a couple of considerations about the drastic change that palaeographic studies have suffered in Spain. We also mention the importance in this country of the International Palaeography Commission and information about some journeys dedicated to this discipline. We offer a chronological summary of the principal contributions to this discipline by Spanish experts, between 1885 and 1985, paying special attention to the Visigothic and Caroline script as well as to the Spanish contribution to balances of abbreviations, to graphocriticism and to stylometry.
