Abstract

: Following the model of some works done in French Dioceses and taking as a starting-point a Canons' list of the Archives of the Cathedral of Valencia from end of the 14th century to beginning of the l6th century, the present research brings a prosopography of each Canon. The introductory study analyses the characteristics of this ecclesiastic group which stands out for their legal training as well as for their connection with local oligarchies. Many of them held oustanding positions in the papal Curia, and particularly so under Pope Borja.
