There are several subjects in the History of Spain that have never been really investigated and, by this reason, some inexact ideas have been repeated again and again. This has happened about the subject discussed in this paper, which includes important questions, such as the succession of Alfonso VI of Castile, some facts developped during the Civil War that followed his death, the battle of Candespina, the proclamation of the young King Alfonso VII, the relation between the Queen Urraca with several noblemen of her Court (Count Gómez, Count Pedro de Lara), the behaviour of the Lara brothers during this period of civil dissensions. The article clarifies too the origin of the Manzanedo House, which since the 12th Century played an important role in the History of Spain.
