The founder of the House of Alba took over the defence of the frontier of Jaén between 1434 and 1437. An important collection of letters, most of them unpublished, show his activities as soldier and diplomat in those years. The same sources has interesting information about the home affairs of Nasrid Granada in a crucial moment for its history
