In the last times we have seen the reappraisal of the cultural period during the last quarter of the XIII Century, specially in that concerning to the participation of king Sancho IV in the patronage of the artistic works (literary as architectonic) and in considering this epoch as a period of flowering of tendencies which signed the culture of XIV Century. This provoked the revision by the critics of the King Bravo's role in this cultural renewal and the intent of outlining an intellectual group around him or even to sustain the influence of the queen Doña María de Molina. At the same time, it was accepted the existence of a "cultural model" which binds together all the manifestations of this epoch. The present work poses a series of reflexions about two aspects of the culture of this period: to search external signs to the king Don Sancho's artistic works which let perceive the clue of a real king's patronage, and, finally, to consider ideological aspects of these works, which even without denying the unity of this cultural model, present it as the fruit of heterogeneous working groups.
