Abstract

This article shows how was "La Vall de Lord" organized in four castles, their respective territories and ten rural parish churches and also their evolution during the ninth and tenth centuries. It explains the exemption land taxes in the southern part of the Urgell's county and bishopric, and the relievant role of Guifred "el Pilos" count and Seu bishops in that establishment. Two bénédictine monasteries, Sant Llorenç de Morunys and Sant Pere de Graudescales, had an important development in the "Vail de Lord". At the first time, both were regular priests'canonicals.
