Abstract

The cessio honorum is the surrender of all his property made by an insolvent debtor for the benefit of his creditors. The process was introduced in France with the Établissements de Saint Louis (1256). The insolvent avoided the prison. It is his principal interest. The process is similar in Netherlands and Belgium.
