Between 1487 and 1488, Juan del Río, prebendary of de Toledo Cathedral, was subjected to an inquisitorial process that ended in his being sentenced to burn at the stake. This paper studies thar process, which provides some keys for delving into the situation experienced by converted jews in the dying days of th XVth century, when the Spanish Inquisition had already started its activity, but still in the days before the proliferation of purity of blood statutes, thus retlecting the heavy tension existing beteen old and new christians in those years.
