A propósito del desarrollo urbano del País Vasco durante el reinado de Alfonso X

Abstract

One aspect of long lasting consequences in the policy of king Alfonso X the Wise is that concerning the urbanization and resetting of the territories of the Castilian Kingdom, which up to the middle of the 13th century had already achieved the territorial expansion that almost with no changes is going to be mantained till 1492. This work looks through the urbanization policy followed by the mentioned king in the Basque Country, particularly in the cases of Vitoria and Mondragon. At the same time, we want to underline some of the data which allow us to state that the growing phase in the Basque urban area went on till the earlier years of the 14th century.
