During the XIIIth century Barcelona, like other cities in Europe, experienced an economic and urban expansion. In spite of the existence of excellent studies on its development, we are still lacking a global view of the topography of Barcelona during the XIIIth century. This article offers a first approach to the subject. It is based on unpublished documentation kept in the Archive of the Marquis of Barberà: 144 parchments about Barcelona and Sants. This documentation has allowed us to study under a new light the urban changes that the city experienced during the XllIth century. We have analyzed just one question: the property market.
