Abstract


In this work there has been analyzed the conflicts associated with the political violence in the medieval cities in Cantabria. The violence of parties constitutes one of the key topics for the knowledge of the conflict in the urban society and, even, of the economic, social and political relations in the Late Middle Ages, so, by means of the violent demonstrations, it is possible to observe the way in which the social and power nets were articulated. In the introductory part, there are exposed the characteristics of the violence of parties. After that, the organization of the oligarchy is explained in the cities of Cantabria and also the violence of parties. In the third part, it's explained a chronology of the parties fights. Finally, the work is closed with the response of the Catholic Kings to this violence, who tried to end to the conflicts of parties by means of the electoral ordinances.
